What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The quantity of these items needed can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take up to 8 hours, depending on the magnitude of an upgrade. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based on its new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, as well as other vital statistics. In some instances the upgrade can grant additional perks that can be selected from a list of available perks.

Another way to increase the odds of a successful upgrade is to use an item called the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item can be helpful if your weapon or piece is nearing or has reached the highest level of its tier. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next level without the risk of it breaking.
If an upgrade fails it will be restored to its initial state. This is often a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save upgrades for when you're close to the highest level of an item, and to use it as a last resort.
